Our Face Mask Set Up

Did you ever think you would need to know this much about the world of face masks? Well, here we are and can I *maybe* say, some masks really are actually cute?! Remember initially when it was a guessing game what face mask to buy? Do you purchase the N95 mask, the face shield, the neck gaitor, or the standard issue blue disposable masks that are lightweight? Spoiler alert, the blue standard issue face masks are what my husband prefers, so for the no-fuss adult male, that is where our house lands with those.

I carry two kinds of masks for myself. I'll be honest, I'm never wearing them for long periods of time and typically not longer than an hour. I keep it casual: I have my go-to grocery-getter affordable Target masks and my fun weekend colorful tie-dye mask, for I want to look cuter when I'm out in a mask. The photos show some of my options in these two categories. I also have a bunch of fun mask cases since I'm usually carrying mine and all three of our youngest kids’ masks and don't want to have to dig for them every time individually in my purse.

Our kids are in school full day and need masks for longer periods than both me and my husband. Back to school was when I really had to consider what our face mask game was going to look like for them. We have tweaked and refined, but I do feel as though the masks we started with for back to school have absolutely been the most successful. Our kids rave about how soft the solid color masks from Nordstrom are. My son ties his on each end to size them just a bit, but the girls usually wear them as is. We also put filters in these for the long hours at school. I also keep a box of disposable colorful kids tie dye masks in our cars, and note, the ones shown do fit an adult in a bind (Gah, I know from experience).

I have lanyards packed in my kids school bags for them to clip their masks into and wear around their necks. I think the lanyards are ingenious to help kids keep track of the masks, but my kids aren't totally sold on them. I think they are amazing for day trips and zoos, even Disney, and I am hoping they make the switch because we have lost track of a mask or two during the school day.

So, this is our mask set up for daily use. We really keep it simple, but efficient in the world of face masks. I have now started using the antibacterial cases to separate the kids' masks when they are together, so we are always refining, but was a great place to start for us.
